Our dining room is pretty.. traditional. In a good way! It’s got a beautiful corner hutch, that’s original to the house and gorgeous wood floors in a box pattern.

While I adore our dining room, it doesn’t really feel like us, you know what I mean?
We like things a little more modern. We love primitive finishes and a moody feel, so it’s been a real challenge to keep the history of this space (and our home in general) while updating it to fit our unique style. I think I’ve got a first round of plans done though. Things always adjust as we go, that’s just the nature of the beast.

I still haven’t decided how I’m going to address that corner hutch. It sticks out like a sore thumb with the new furniture in place, but I don’t want to remove it and pull out that piece of history. We threw around the idea of stripping the paint, and staining it a natural wood color. I’ve still got some planning to do on that end, but things are heading in the right direction!
